The welfare condition of organizations
The one big idea that keeps pressing in on me with my thesis:
Is it possible for companies to be organizations that foster personal and professional thriving through their values, practices, and morale, all the while being purposeful, profitable, and eco friendly?
As I finished posting this, The New York Times published this article about the working conditions of restaurant workers.
"There should be a symbol for restaurants to display on their windows as proudly as they display their stars and reviews, a symbol that says: We care about our people, too."

Ash Wednesday's readings include passages from the prophet Isaiah, who is decrying unjust wage and working conditions for the poor. Much of idolatrous worship in the Old Testament was for economic advantages, many times at the expense of humans.
Sometimes I feel like a broken record player, saying that companies have this huge opportunity to make a difference by being a developmental organization that helps people thrive personally and professionally. The big question is obviously HOW they can do this. It's no small task. I get it.
But I feel some sort of validation today! :)
